"DOOM V1"
This is an original, one of one, mixed media painting measuring 24" in length and 36" in height created in 2017 as part of the "Fiction vs. Reality" series. Identifying the blurred lines between reality and fiction.
Dr. Doom is shown as the only painted character in this DOOM series. This character was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. In the words of Kirby, "Dr. Doom was the classic conception of Death, of approaching Death. I saw Dr. Doom as The Man in the Iron Mask, who symbolized approaching Death. It was the reason for the armor and the hood. Death is connected with armor and inhuman-like steel. Death is something without mercy and human flesh contains that element of mercy. Therefore I had to erase it, and I did it with a mask."
After spending two years collecting articles in local and global newspapers, each news print was carefully curated for this piece to stay true with the essence of Dr. Doom, emphasizing that fiction may be reality and reality could feel like it's fictional.
